Thank you everyone who entered our SIX1FIVE giveaway.
Congratulations to Michelle G. , you are our winner!
As promised last Friday we’re chatting with the founders/designers of SIX1FIVE and giving away one of my favorite pieces from their collection – an edgy, cozy classic sweatshirt perfect for just about any casual, yet chic, occasion.
I was intrigued with the Cissy Jones and Emily Cook business model and their ability to spring-up a brand that has so quickly caught a cult following. Cissy and Emily dwell in Dallas, Texas. I hope you enjoy my chat with the girls.
1 winner will be announced on cecyj.com next Monday, November 25th, 2013.
How did you dream up Shop SIX1FIVE?
SIX1FIVE WAS CONCEIVED BY EMILY OVER A CHAMPAGNE LUNCH WHILE ON VACATION WITH TWO BEST FRIENDS IN VAIL,COLORADO. ON THE WAY BACK TO DALLAS, EMILY IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED CISSY, A GREAT FRIEND AND TALENTED DESIGNER. CISSY RAN WITH THE IDEA AND EXPANDED IT INTO THE CREATIVE AND COHESIVE LINE IT IS TODAY. SINCE THE PAIR WERE BOTH BORN IN NOVEMBER, THE SCORPIOS DECIDED TO HAVE FUN WITH THEIR BIRTH DATES. NOVEMBER 6+15 TO MAKE THE LABELS NAME SIX1FIVE.
Advice for women starting their own company?
GO FOR IT AND STICK WITH IT. THERE ARE A LOT OF BUMPS IN THE ROAD, BUT YOU MUST PERSEVERE. RECOGNIZE YOUR TALENTS AND USE THEM TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. BE MORE AWARE OF YOUR WEAKNESSES AND FIND A WAY TO CONQUER THEM.
Where is the clothing made? How and where do you source the materials from?
ALL PRODUCTION IS LOCAL IN DALLAS. WE LOVE SUPPORTING OUR CITY AND BEING ABLE TO BE HANDS ON IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE. OUR MATERIALS COME FROM ITALY AND CALIFORNIA AND CISSY SELECTS THE VINTAGE FABRICS THAT LINE THE BAGS AND BLAZERS FROM LOCAL VINTAGE SHOPS

I’m watching 4moms closely… predicting they might be the next big thing in baby gear.
4moms Origami Stroller has small generators in the rear wheels providing enough power to self fold and open. It can also charge your cell phone while you walk. Their Infant Tub drains dirty water while refreshing with new and closely manages the temperature. The Infant Car Seat (coming in 2014) installs itself and verifies a safe connection before you drive off.
No, I’m not kidding. If these products work as well as advertised, I think we’re headed for a baby product revolution.
This Tissus d’Hélène fabric arrived from London last week. Such a special artisanal boutique fabric company… I can’t wait to see it transformed into Living Room pillows for my client.
