Since the United States seems to be freezing over I thought it’d be a good time for some outdoor design inspiration. I had to look no further than Kathleen Ferguson. Kathleen does a whole lot more than just landscape backyards. She creates intentional, simple, serene outdoor environments that don’t feel over-accessorized with fussy plants or foliage.
Enjoy these inspiring photos from Kathleen’s portfolio + try to stay warm.
Such a fun way to wrap up 2013 with an app I’m totally digging… FLIPAGRAM. It allows you to roll your photos into one short picture story. Perfect for a summary of your year. There is even an option to set it to music. It’s so easy. I’m a little obsessed.
Enjoy + Happy New Year.
Wrapping up the year and thinking of a couple new pieces of furniture for the home?
I rarely mention sales but Room & Boards (almost famous) post-holiday sale is worth noting. This annual clearance sale offers savings up to 50% off sofas, tables, storage pieces and accessories.
A couple of my favorites you can scoop up online or at their Boston, San Francisco, New York or LA locations.
Happy Room & Board hunting.
I came across Urban Craft Custom Builders during one of my internet sleuthing trips this weekend. Based out of Houston, they have built some really thoughtful, stylish homes that feel chic and relevant for how we live today.
Enjoy some of my favorites from their portfolio and be sure to check them out at Urban Craft.
Thank you everyone who entered our SIX1FIVE giveaway.
Congratulations to Michelle G. , you are our winner!
As promised last Friday we’re chatting with the founders/designers of SIX1FIVE and giving away one of my favorite pieces from their collection – an edgy, cozy classic sweatshirt perfect for just about any casual, yet chic, occasion.
I was intrigued with the Cissy Jones and Emily Cook business model and their ability to spring-up a brand that has so quickly caught a cult following. Cissy and Emily dwell in Dallas, Texas. I hope you enjoy my chat with the girls.
1 winner will be announced on cecyj.com next Monday, November 25th, 2013.

Advice for women starting their own company?
GO FOR IT AND STICK WITH IT. THERE ARE A LOT OF BUMPS IN THE ROAD, BUT YOU MUST PERSEVERE. RECOGNIZE YOUR TALENTS AND USE THEM TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. BE MORE AWARE OF YOUR WEAKNESSES AND FIND A WAY TO CONQUER THEM.
