I’ve always been guilty of only framing photos from the last few years and I forget to search for some of the classics. It took some time and effort but I called my relatives – aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents – and asked them to send old photos (especially of my dad who passed away 11 years ago) so I could bring a little of the past into the present.
I wholeheartedly believe your home is where you rest your heart and the things you cherish most should be present.
Once the photos arrived from family I shipped them off to ScanCafe, a wonderful Bay Area company that can do it all to bring your photos back to life. They restore old photos, scan slides, negatives and albums, load them online and send you a CD for future use. I think it’d be a great idea to send a gift box of the memories to a family member. Brilliant, right?
My favorite photo I sent for scanning is this one of my mom & dad. I have it in my family room book shelf, which is the artery of our home so my mom and dad are present every day, flashing smiles in just the way I would like to always remember them.
